Indians of the Week for week ending January 30
The Indians of the Week are chosen by coaches, and recognize student-athletes that play sports that are currently in season. This week's Indians of the Week (for the week of January 25-30) include Lucy Alexander and Walker Bailey for high school, and Haylen McGugan and Charlie Harris for middle school. Lucy Alexander - Track & Field
High School Girl
At the Last Chance Indoor Invite at the Birmingham CrossPlex, junior captain Lucy Alexander broke current University of the South's Perry Gresham's 2018 indoor 3200m school record. Lucy also set indoor personal records in the 1600m and 800m. Lucy continues to display significant, influential leadership and is a strong mentor for our younger athletes!

Walker Bailey - Track & Field
High School Boy
Sophomore Walker Bailey set three personal records at the annual Last Chance Indoor Invite, held at the prestigious Birmingham CrossPlex. Walker has been one of the most consistent, dedicated athletes on campus. His work ethic is stellar, and it is paying off. He is a stalwart in the track & field program!

Haylen McGugan - Cheerleading
Middle School Girl
Haylen is a tremendous example of an athlete who strives to give her best to every task. Her persistence shines through in all situations regardless of the difficulty. More importantly, she is not easily discouraged and is always a positive influence on her teammates. In addition, her focus on mastering elements shows through her thoughtful questions and contagious attitude.

Charlie Harris - Swimming
Middle School Boy
Charlie has shown determination to improve his swims this season. Charlie's hard work paid off at the GISA Middle School State Championship this past Saturday. After not qualifying in an individual event in the previous season, Charlie qualified in 4 different individual events. Charlie swam to 3 personal best times out of 3 individual events that he swam. Charlie's demeanor and attitude have inspired his teammates as he truly embodies our mission this season. Charlie strives to 'Be the light' of hard work and positivity for his teammates.
