Indians of the Week for week ending February 6

The Indians of the Week are chosen by coaches, and recognize student-athletes that play sports that are currently in season. This week's Indians of the Week (for the week of February 1-6) include Katy Corbett and Max Farris for high school, and Megan Prince and Amari Ernst for middle school (both girl selections for this week). PAST INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Katy Corbett - Basketball

High School Girl

The Lady Indian Basketball Program would like to nominate Katy Corbett for Indian of the Week. Last week, Katy scored 42 points, had 13 rebounds, six assists, six deflections, and six steals. On our TFS Senior Night, Katy scored 32 points and set a school record of ten three-point shots. Katy was 10 for 15 from behind the arc, shooting an impressive 67% from downtown.

This achievement was only made possible through her teammates' selfless efforts, who supported all three of our seniors in a night to remember. Along with Katy's performance, senior Iray Adeleke had 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 81.8% from the field. Senior Abby Carlan also chipped in 12 points, had four rebounds and two assists.

The next morning, Katy competed in the 2021 GHSA Girls Basketball 3-Point Contest hosted at Banks County High School. Katy finished the event in second place and was one of four players to qualify for the Semifinal Round held on February 27th at Banks County.

Megan Prince - Track & Field

Middle School Girl

Throughout the summer and school year, sixth grader harrier and track & field runner Megan Prince has been dedicated to improving, consistent in additional training, focused and attentive to detail, and jovial in attitude. She puts in extra time in the weight room, learning and developing specific athletic lifts. An "A" student who puts the same effort into being a GREAT teammate, Megan pursues excellence daily while inspiring others with a smile, determination, and obvious commitment.

Amari Ernst - Soccer

Middle School Girl

Amari is new to the sport of soccer but has been faithfully attending optional training sessions and has enthusiastically picked things up quickly. Her growing skill set and soccer sense are already showing to be a positive addition to the team. Her willingness to jump into something new shows she has GREAT character. Can’t wait to see her progress!
