Indians of the Week: March 13-18

TFS has named the Indians of the Week for the week of March 13-18. This week's selections are Ava Carnes and Canon Brooks for high school, and Delaney Johnson and Teagan Penland for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Ava Carnes - Tennis

Ava Carnes played the 3rd singles spot for us last week, and she was solid all the way around, only dropping one game over the course of two region matches. After playing some doubles, her crosscourt strokes have improved and her confidence at the net has grown tremendously. She really has worked to improve each week at tennis and in her approach, and she is a GREAT teammate who always encourages her teammates. -coach Anthony Cox

Canon Brooks - Golf

Canon Brooks had a great match last week against Commerce as he helped lead us to victory with a 39 on 9 holes at Double Oaks Golf Club. He was the low medalist of the match as he set his best score for 9 holes as a TFS varsity golfer. -coach Matt Crotta

Delaney Johnson - Track & Field

Eighth-grade team leader Delaney Johnson placed second in both the 800m and 1600m at the Rabun Co Quad track & field meet, setting personal records in both. Her 1600m time is presently better than the varsity times while her 800m best would be #3 on the varsity squad. Delaney switched from sprints last year to cross country and distance this year; her dedication, focus, and resolve set the tone for teamness and inspiration. -coach Scott Neal

Teagan Penland - Track & Field

Eighth-grader Teagan Penland won both the 800m (#3 TFS MS Legacy List) and 1600m (#2 MS Legacy List) with eight second and 30 second personal records, respectively, at the Rabun County Quad track & field meet. Teagan trains with passion and purpose, letting nothing hinder him mentally from becoming a competitive runner and GREAT teammate. -coach Scott Neal
