Indians of the Week: April 10-15

 
 

TFS has named the Indians of the Week for the week of April 10-15. This week's selections are Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph and Zach Carringer & Jake Owensby for high school, and Ca'Rin Swinton and Teagan Penland for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph - Tennis

Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph is the girls' tennis Indian of the Week. In the semifinals and finals of the region championship last week, Jaeda-Lee continued her dominance at the #2 singles position. She earned victories 6-1,6-0 and 6-1,6-2 to contribute to the region championship, the first in two decades for the girls' tennis team. Jaeda-Lee has grown this season both on and off the court, and as a freshman, her future is very bright. We appreciate her strong contribution to our program. -coach Anthony Cox

Zach Carringer & Jake Owensby - Tennis

The doubles combo of Zachary Carringer and Jake Owensby are the boys' tennis Indians of the Week. The #1 doubles combo has been dominant since joining together toward the end of the season. Last week, in the region tournament finals, the pair came from behind to clinch the region championship for their team, which is the first in decades. These young men have grown as tennis players and are demonstrating what it means to be a true team and team players. -coach Anthony Cox

Ca'Rin Swinton - Track

Seventh-grader Ca'Rin Swinton is the scoring anchor of the MS girls T&F team. She's won the 100 and 200 in four meets and placed fourth or better in two much larger meets. She's also placed in the top three in four meets running the 100 meter hurdles, winning twice. She is the team's high-point leader at each meet and within the season. Ca'Rin's competitiveness helps others to realize they, too can compete at a higher level while being a learner and encourager. -coach Scott Neal

Teagan Penland - Track

Eighth-grader Teagan Penland placed second in the 800 and won the1600 at the Tri State #2 meet on Tuesday, then on Thursday won the 3200 at the Private School Championships at Hebron, running the #2 TFS MS time on the Legacy List. He also broke a 2008 MS school record (presently #38 in GA) in the 1600m (5:10.38). Teagan's GREATness reaches well beyond his running prowess; he is an incredible teammate who encourages others to do their best. -coach Scott Neal
