Jovana Dermanovic - Track & Field

Junior Jovana Dermanovic is straight out of Dead Poet's Society. She consistently demonstrates "Carpe Diem. Seize the day. Make your life extraordinary." No matter what, Jovana finds a way to genuinely encourage others by both active engagement in their moment and role modeling a GREAT attitude. She has learned to think with the same respect and admiration she shows others while valiantly pursuing to be the best  in her hurdling events, often despite distinct discomfort herself. As "the powerful play goes on" she chooses to "add her own verse." Every team needs a Jovana! -coach Scott Neal

Ade Akisanya - Track & Field

Junior Ade Akisanya has consistently been the TFS number one shot putter so far this season, placing in the top three in each of the last four meets. He also threw a discus personal record of 127-3 at the GWA Dawg Dash this weekend. Along with seniors Sam Ketch and Makhi Edgecombe, Ade consistently models encouragement, accountability, and influential energy as the trio sets the standard of what GREAT teammates demonstrate. Each intelligently pursues throwing with confidence, collaboration, and composure in all situations. Ade is like the younger brother who chooses to be tenacious in his quest to be one of the best like his older 'mates. -coach Scott Neal

mary kate ball - track & Field

Seventh grader Mary Kate Ball had a solid week of track & field performances at both the Habersham Central Tri Meet and the Banks County meet, either setting personal records or winning events in the 400m and 800m. MK demonstrates GREAT daily as a teammate and as a competitor, always giving her best, encouraging others, and lighting up her surroundings with a "can do" attitude. She easily competes in a range of events from hurdling to relays all the way up to the 800m (and could run the 1600m well if we needed it for points). MK certainly adds significance to the team! -coach Scott Neal

morgan martin - track & Field

Over the course of two meets in two days - Banks County and Habersham Central - eighth grader Morgan Martin bettered his PR in the long jump and 200m. Morgan runs all three sprints and relays and long jumps. He has improved each season as his focus, goals, and determination have matured, and he is setting his goals higher to see how good he can be. Calm, patient, and engaged, Morgan is learning the rewards of "owning" his events as he gets stronger, faster, and is needed to help the team more and more. He has a track & field mentality that provides stability and poise to his teammates. -coach Scott Neal
