Music
Chorus
The Choral Department provides students an opportunity to perform songs from various repertoires and genres. Students at all levels of experience are encouraged to participate and students of all skill levels from beginners to advanced will be challenged. Students are encouraged to develop their individual voice, while also participating in a balanced ensemble. TFS singers are encouraged to audition for both District and statewide honor choir.
Instrumental
Instrumental Music provides students an opportunity to develop music skills through a choice of instruments: including piano, handbells, voice, recorder, percussion, strings, woodwinds, and brass. Students will study music theory as a class, yet practice privately to enhance music skills in a selected instrument. Since this is an upper school music course, prior instrumental experience is preferred, yet not required. Printed music will be required for guidance and evaluation. In addition to a chosen instrument, students will enhance keyboard and vocal skills. With guidance, students will select their pieces for performances. Rehearsals may be called as needed to prepare for requested events, such as a school performance or athletic event. The students may represent the school with public performances and create added TFS spirit and school morale. Musicians who excel may be selected to audition for GMEA All-State or GISA All-Select Chorus, Band or Orchestra.
