TFS fishing club hosts tournament

The Tallulah Falls School Bass Fishing Club was back on the water again Oct. 8.

TFS was the host school for the high school bass fishing event that launched from the megaramp at Lake Hartwell's Tugaloo State Park.

The 95 boat event, with more than 270 anglers and captains, was the largest Georgia B.A.S.S. High School Tournament event in the organization's history, according to Russell Williams, who serves as the TFS club captain.

“The high winds presented challenges for our team,” Williams said. “However, the anglers persisted from the 7 a.m. "blast-off" until shortly before their weigh-in time to achieve a five-fish limit to place 27th in the field.”

Also,  it was greatly appreciated when future TFS Bass Fishing Club members, parents and school faculty volunteered to be there for the weigh-in with hamburgers, compliments of Dairy Queen of Habersham and TFS drinks to the teams after a hard day of fishing,” he said. “Thanks also goes to Larry Peevy, our school's president for being one of the approximately 400 people present during the weigh-in.”

“It was great to see our new club highlighted at a local tournament,” Peevy said. “We look forward to supporting their success this season.”

A special thanks goes out to Roger Cosby at Neff Rentals for donating the operation and use of a 50-foot boom lift for the presentation of our American flag and the national anthem, Williams added.

TFS club anglers, sophomore Marshall Harrelson and freshman Marshall Williams, will compete again next month at Clark's Hill Reservoir.
