TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

 
 

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for October 27-November 2.

Middle School Girl

Eighth-grader Emily Smith of Cleveland was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school swim coach Susan Nichols. “Emily was one of the top point earners for the girl’s team,” Nichols said. “Emily raced the distance 200-yard freestyle 35 seconds faster than last year for a fifth-place finish, and improved in the 50-yard butterfly by three seconds for an eighth-place finished. She also was the anchor in the 200-yard freestyle which placed third overall. Emily had a great meet and we are expecting more from her as the season continues.”

 

Middle School Boy

Seventh-grader Nelson Wilkinson of Cleveland was named an Indian of the Week by middle school swim coach Susan Nichols. “Nelson is new to TFS swim this year,” Nichols said. “He came in as a leader for the middle school team. His teammates look up to him and he helped lead his team to a good finish in their first meet. He led the team with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and a second place finish in 50-yard butterfly. His relay teams also earned two sixth-place finishes.”

 

Varsity Girl

Junior Virginia Griswold of Clarkesville was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Virginia led the women’s high school team by winning the 100-yard freestyle and achieved a state qualifying position in the 100-yard butterfly with a 3rd place finish,” Cochran said. She also led the 200-yard freestyle relay team which also recorded a state qualifying time.”

Varsity Boy

Sophomore Hunter Weyrich of Alto was named a TFS Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Hunter won both the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke and achieved state qualifying times for both events,” Cochran said. “He also set a new school record for the 100-yard breaststroke. He was also part of the men’s 400-yard freestyle team which scored a state qualifying time.”
