Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for Nov. 27—Dec.2.

Middle School Girl

Eighth-grader Maredith Anderson of Cornelia was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school cheering coach Jane Shoemaker. “Maredith went above and beyond as a team member encouraging younger team members to take on increasing leadership roles,” Shoemaker said. “Her actions underline a selfless attitude and the spirit of teamwork that strengthens the squad.”

Middle School Boy

Seventh-grader Seungwook Daniel Shin was named an Indian of the Week by middle school swim coach Susan Nichols. “Daniel is new to swimming but is showing great promise,” Nichols said. “He has quickly learned the freestyle and backstroke. He internalizes feedback and quickly implements it and has shown determination and dedication. “He is becoming a strong and proficient swimmer and with work, he will master each stroke.”

Varsity Girl

Freshman Maggie Jackson of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by varsity swim coach Annette Cochran. “Maggie had struggled to find her place on the swim team, but last week she found her ‘fins’,” Cochran said. “Maggie placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal record of 28.27 earning her a spot on the ‘A’ relay team which will go to the state meet. She also swam an amazing 500-yard freestyle in 7:07.66, earning a second-place finish.”

Varsity Boy

Senior Akin Akisanya was selected as an Indian of the Week by varsity boys basketball coach Jim Van Hooser. “Akin has become a leader by his actions and his words,” Van Hooser said. “He has become an excellent defender as well as an excellent team defender.  Akin has put the team goals above his own individual goals and is showing the younger players how things should be done to be successful. He has become both responsible to his teammates and accountable to them as well.”
