TFS varsity baseball team has strong showing against powerhouse Providence Christian

The Tallulah Falls School varsity boys baseball team experienced a strong performance from junior Thomas Harris of Clarkesville against the Providence Christian Storm in Lilburn on Tuesday, March 26.

TFS scored four runs in the second inning as they strung together four hits and a walk. The Indians led 4-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Providence Christian was able to push the tying run across in the bottom of the seventh to force the game into extra innings. Providence Christian scored the deciding run in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn the hard-fought win, with a final score of 5-4.

Assistant coach Dustin Rogers was pleased with the team’s effort. He singled out senior Marshall Harrelson of Clarkesville in particular for covering ground and making plays.

“We played our best defensive game of the year. The outfield, in particular, rose to the occasion and handled every ball hit their way. Senior “Field” Marshall Harrelson covered ground like a somewhat slower Willie Mays to catch ball after ball,” Rogers said. “Baseball is a difficult game to play and almost impossible to master. This is what makes it such a great game. The players are really responding to coach Wilcox’s instructions and are improving with each outing. Today we were in a position to win against a historically strong program with multiple region championships and a recent state title.”
