Indians split with George Walton in Tuesday twin bill

The TFS baseball team split a Tuesday night double header at home against George Walton.

GAME 1

Aubrey Higgins was dominant yet again as the Indians took game one in a 2-0 low-scoring affair. Higgins pitched a complete game shutout and struck out nine while getting his fourth win of the season. While Higgins was stamping down the George Walton lineup with only four hits and two walks, the TFS offense registered only two hits.

Fortunately, the Indians scraped across a run in the first and fourth on well-timed RBI singles by Cainan Yaskiewicz and Malique Charlton. Frankey Moree and Chathan Clouatre both scored runs.

GAME 2

In the finale, TFS fell 8-6 to George Walton to even the series. Tallulah Falls struck first with a run in the first frame on a sacrifice fly by Moree. After George Walton took a 2-1 lead the next inning, Joel Miller's RBI double to left scored Baylor Carnes to tie the game. Trent Thomas doubled in Miller and Charlton later in the inning to give TFS the 4-2 lead.

The visitors struck for two in the fourth and one in the fifth to take the lead. Up 5-4 going into the final inning, George Walton tacked on three runs to go up 8-4 heading into the final half inning. TFS made it interesting with a pair of runs, highlighted by a David Medina RBI single to plate Tate Shaw. Carnes then singled in Tyler Popham to cut it to 8-6, but the next two hitters struck out to end the game.

Clouatre took the loss on the mound 5.1 innings and allowing three earned runs. Carnes led with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Five other Indians recorded hits in the loss.

TFS moves to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in Region 8-A Private. The rubber match between TFS and George Walton is Thursday on the road.
