State Playoffs Preview: Lady Indians set to take on Fellowship Christian

Tallulah Falls is set to play in its seventh straight volleyball state tournament, earning the Region Runner-Up finish for the fourth time in school history. The Lady Indians (22-11) take on Fellowship Christian in the opening round of the tournament at home on Wednesday at 5:30 PM.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

The Lady Indians have had a fantastic season that has included wins over six top-10 ranked opponents, including a thrilling 3-1 win over visiting #7 George Walton last Tuesday in the region semifinals. TFS has won six in a row once this season, tying a program record. The girls earned ranked wins over #1 Murphy (NC), #7 George Walton, #8 Prince Avenue Christian, #10 Lumpkin County, #10 Bullitt East (KY), and #10 Ridgeland.

TFS has had many individuals leading statistically, including the duo of senior Allie Dalton and junior Sarah Jennings. Jennings broke the single-match kills record and has 302 on the season (4th most in program history) and over 600 in her career (2nd). Dalton broke the single-match and single-season assist record this season, has over 1,000 in her career, and is currently just 8 assists shy of the all-time school record. Dalton's 94.1 serve percentage also currently stands as the fifth-best in TFS history in a single season.

Barrett Whitener, a team captain, has been solid at the net with 33 blocks, a new career high that has her at 83 in her career (2nd). Other standouts have included Addy McCoy, Alba Romanos Gracia, Evette Corwin, Nancy Fisher, and Kitty Rodenas among others.

ROUND 1 PREVIEW

The Lady Indians (22-11) take on Fellowship Christian (18-16) at 5:30 PM at the TFS MS Student Activity Center. Tickets are $8 per GHSA (ORDER: https://gofan.co/app/events/416712?schoolId=GA5330).

TFS will look to be the first team to win three sets to advance to the Sweet 16 in Class 1A Private. The Lady Indians host due to the #2 seeding from region 8-A Private, while the Paladins are a #3 seed from their region.

What's on the line? The Lady Indians could punch a ticket to the Sweet 16 for only the third time in school history, and for a second straight season. A win would also give TFS 23 on the season, the most since coach Matt Heyl's first season in which Tallulah Falls went 31-18.
