TFS has named Indians of the Week for the week of November 1-6. This week's selections are Lucy Alexander and Emre Sungur for high school, and Gracie Gunter and Charlie Harris for middle school. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Lucy Alexander - Cross Country

HS Girl

Senior Captain Lucy Alexander, in cross country since sixth grade, battled through the loss of a grandmother and illness over the last month to run her best race of the season at the 2021 State Championship. She ran a near-season best 23:35 on a tough state course to finish 65th out of 193 and help TFS to a 13th place finish.  Lucy has been to state three years in a row (two Sweet 16 finishes), the first for a TFS female harrier. Whether communicating important state meet reminders, setting up tents and tarps, or relating the importance of the forest to the trees, Lucy has been a stalwart to the program. She has both strengthened memorable traditions as well as helped create GREAT in the culture. -coach Scott Neal

Emre Sungur - Swimming

HS Boy

Emre Sungur is our nominee for this week. Emre is new to the TFS Varsity team and has started the season strong. He is constantly seeking feedback from his coaches during practice and at meets in an effort to improve his swims. Emre’s hard work is paying off as he qualified for the GHSA state meet in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 50-yard freestyle, as well as the 400-yard freestyle relay with teammates Nelson Wilkinson, Henry Rickman, and Emery Sims at the Mask-Erade Invitational. Sungur’s 200 free times also set a new school record in that event. Emre also works to encourage his teammates at practice as well as the middle school swimmers at meets. -coach Rachel Nichols

Gracie Gunter - Basketball

MS Girl

Indian of the Week for middle school girls basketball is Gracie Gunter. This is Gracie's first experience on a team at this level and she is working very hard to get better each practice. She takes instruction well and has a great work ethic. Gracie is a great teammate and looks for opportunities to be kind. She always has a smile on her face, even when she is running during conditioning! I look forward to watching her grow into her spot on this team. -coach Jennifer Cox

Charlie Harris - Swimming

MS Boy

Charlie Harris is our nominee for this week. Charlie swam at the Campbell Kickoff this past weekend to two personal best times in his 50 and 100-yard freestyle. Charlie is also a team captain this season. Charlie works hard to set an example for his teammates in and out of the pool. -coach Rachel Nichols
