Lundy's personal best guides TFS to 5th place at Valhalla Cup Tournament

The Lady Indians took part in the two-day Valhalla Cup Tournament at Chimney Oaks Golf Course, and yet again saw improvement in the way of a 5th-place finish among 12 teams.

After being in 3rd place after day one, the Lady Indians dropped two spots on day two to secure 5th place finish. Junior Hannah Lundy led the team overall with an 18-hole total of 99. Following behind Lundy was Mallory Higgins with a 102, Madeline Martin with 114, and Raegan Duncan with 120.

On day one, Lundy led the team with a score of 49, followed by Martin with a 50 and Higgins with a 51.

On day two, scoring was again led by Lundy with 50, followed by Higgins with a 51. The girls improved their season 18-hole total by 37 strokes, a significant improvement.

“I’m happy to see the progression we’ve made this season leading up to our area tournament in two weeks,” says coach Hannah Satterfield. “The girls have learned a lot, and improved in many areas. I just want them to continue to be students of the game and grow as young players. Although we fell short of the top-three finish we were all hoping for, the girls improved their 18-hole score by 37 strokes from our last tournament at Lane Creek.”

For Lundy, she recorded a new personal best across 18 holes.

“I’m very proud of the way Hannah played this tournament,” adds Satterfield. “She has the desire to play well, and the analytical side of the game to read greens. My hope is that she will continue to improve upon this, and shave strokes off her 18-hole score each time she competes.”

The girls will compete in the Lady Trojan tournament Monday, April 18 at Sunset Hills Golf Club.
