Indians of the Week for week ending April 30

TFS has named the Indian of the Week for the week of April 25-30. This week's selections are Julianne Shirley and TJ Cox. MORE INDIANS OF THE WEEK

Julianne Shirley - Track & Field

HS Girl

Sophomore Julianne Shirley sprinted to a three second PR (59.47), second place finish, class record, and #2 Legacy List performance in the 400m at the Area 6 A-Private Track & Field Championships, surpassing Anna Davis’s sophomore record set at the ‘16 state meet. That magnitude of improvement in the oval hasn’t been seen since Zatrick Pearce chopped off two seconds to win the ‘17 state championship. She also placed third in the high jump with a school record tying 5'0 leap (her third clearance at this height). Julianne is also a member of the 4x200m Area 6 runner-up relay and victorious 4x4 relay teams. She advances to the state sectionals in all four events. A very positive and encouraging teammate, Julianne seeks the best in everyone as she also seeks to give it her all so her team can Be GREAT! -coach Scott Neal

TJ Cox - Tennis

HS Boy

Please join me in congratulating TJ Cox as our Indian of the week. In the region tournament TJ beat his opponent handedly 6-0, 6-4 to help the Gentlemen Indians achieve region runner-up honors and a state qualifying bid. In the first round of the state playoffs, with the overall score tied 2-2, TJ emerged victorious against his opponent 6-1, 7-5 in thrilling fashion to finalize a sweet sixteen bid in the state tournament. Congratulations TJ -coach Randy Morris
