Towns County edges TFS in overtime

Towns County's buzzer-beating 3-pointer shocked Tallulah Falls MS and sent the game to overtime. From there, TFS was edged out in a 46-40 final in a key Tri-State Conference tilt.

The Indians raced out to an 8-0 lead behind three baskets by Brantley Addison and another by Asa Popham. TFS led 10-4 going into the second. Towns bridged the gap throughout, though a Popham shot from downtown helped Tallulah maintain a 20-17 lead at the break.

Several lead changes occurred in the second half. Twice in the third Addison put Tallulah Falls back in front, one coming on a corner triple. However, the visitors held the 27-26 lead going into the final quarter. TFS relied on Addison again in the final period, as he had recorded two shots that regained a lead, with yet another from beyond the arc. Popham also had a go-ahead driving layup. Towns County hit an inprobable shot at the buzzer, a 3-pointer that tied the game and sent it to overtime.

In the overtime period, Tallulah Falls wasn't able to keep pace and saw Addison foul out. He finished with a team-high 18 points, while Popham added 13, Lincoln Hicks seven, and two for Grantley Smith. The Indians are now 8-4 overall and 6-2 in Tri-State play.

The Indians B-Team was on the road at Nantahala, and lost 33-27.
