Rabun County edges TFS in region matchup

The Indians lost a tight one Tuesday at home to visiting Rabun County, 62-54.

Rabun bounced out to an 8-0 lead before Zakhar Valasiuk got TFS on the board. The Indians trailed 18-9 after the first. They kept pace in the second, trailing 33-23 at the break. Hayden Bootle and Neyo Bain had 3-pointers in the first half.

Tallulah Falls drew closer by the end of the third, as Rabun held a 47-39 lead going into the final stanza. In that third frame, Valasiuk hit a shot from downtown. Bain hit an early fourth-quarter triple to pull TFS a bit closer. Judah McIntosh hit a corner 3-pointer to make it a 6-point game with just under two minutes left.

Valasiuk led with 18 points, while Bootle added 11. Brian Neely and Bain had eight points each, McIntosh had five, and both Bryson Perdue and Stevan Gabric recorded two points.

TFS is now 4-16 overall and 0-3 in Region 8-A DI play.
