Kafsky scores twice in debut as Lady Indians drop scrimmage to Seckinger

The Lady Indians opened the season unofficially with a 3-2 scrimmage loss Wednesday at home against Seckinger.

After going down 1-0 by the half, TFS rallied with a pair of goals by newcomer LB Kafsky. She was one of three freshman to start, along with Narissa Dawson, Ryleigh Wilson. Fellow freshman Sienna Slater got great playing time as well.

The girls worked out the kinks from the first half, and came out strong in the second half. About 20 minutes into the second half, Kafsky received a long ball from Josie Chesser, and fired in a deep corner shot from the left side for the equalizer. That gave TFS plenty of momentum.

After being on the receiving end of a foul, Kafsky took a free kick from outside the 18 and again placed one in the back of the net. That gave the Lady Indians a 2-1 advantage, which held until about 20 minutes left on the clock. Seckinger came back with a couple goals for the win.

"We are extremely proud of our first outing," says coach Erin Jimenez. "The freshmen contributed in a huge way this evening. The upperclassmen and captains led the team well, and we are excited about our future."

The senior starters included captains Maddie LeBlanc and Jenna Chesser, along with Tessa Foor, Kyndal Anderson, Lily Desta, and Iva Ristic.

The girls officially start the season next Tuesday at home against Athens Academy.
