Roache homers to back Skvarka in win at Athens Academy

Andrew Skvarka didn't need much run support, but got it anyway, as Ashton Roache homered and Rohajae Pinder had three hits in a 7-3 road win for Tallulah Falls at Athens Academy on Friday night.

Pinder had an RBI double in the second, scoring Roache, who later blasted a homerun to right for a 2-0 lead in the fourth. TFS broke the game wide open with a 4-run fifth inning that largely came off Athens Academy miscues. The Spartans got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, and cut the deficit in half with a pair of runs in the sixth, chasing Skvarka.

Chase Pollock came in to get the Indians out of a jam. TFS got an insurance tally in the seventh before Pollock made quick work in the last half inning, striking out two. Skvarka (1-0) picked up the win, going 5.1 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out two. Pollock earned his first save.

Pinder went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Roache had the first Tallulah Falls homerun of the season, and Caden Walker swiped his 27th career stolen base, setting an all-time record for TFS. The Indians are 2-1 on the season.
