TFS coaches name Indians of the Week for Dec. 10-14
Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for December 10-14.
MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL
Sixth-grader Maggie Shelton of Cornelia was selected as an Indian of the Week by middle school girls basketball coach Sharae Long. “Maggie has stepped out of her comfort zone and is beginning to be a vocal leader,” Long said. “She encourages her teammates to push themselves during every drill while pushing herself as well. She scored a big bucket in the game against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee that gave her a huge boost of confidence to better her game. She always has a good attitude and works hard in every practice.”
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY
Eighth-grader Jack Zhong of China was named an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Jack came into the season with limited skills but has worked hard all season to get better,” Cochran said. “Jack consistently gives 100% each day at practice and is not afraid to go the extra mile. This past week, swimmers completed a 30-minute dry-land session. Jack worked an extra 30 minutes longer than the other middle school students because he wanted to be ready for the upcoming meet.”
Junior Sarah Edwards of Sautee Nacoochee was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Sarah came up with a service project for the team,” Cochran said. “She developed the idea to support the kids at the Ronald McDonald House. Sarah led the swim team as they made cards for the kids in the hospital after team workouts. She continues to work hard this season and is always willing to help in any way she can. Sarah helped lead multiple dry-land groups this past week. She is an amazing swimmer and represents all aspects of a GREAT athlete.”
Senior Sebastian Herrera of Mt. Airy was named an Indian of the Week by varsity boys basketball coach Jim Van Hooser. “In two wins last week, Sebastian averaged 20.5 points per game, had three steals and 15 rebounds,” Van Hooser said. “His energy off the bench was a critical component of our success in both games. He played each game with passion and great effort.”
