TFS coaches name Indians of the Week

Tallulah Falls School coaches have selected their Indian athletes of the week for Jan. 7-13.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRL

Eighth-grader Emma Jackson of Clayton was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Emma was put to the challenge this past weekend,” Cochran said. “She swam two middle school events and two high school events. Emma swam the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard backstroke, placing third in all three. Emma qualified for the middle school state meet in the 50-yard backstroke and the 50-yard butterfly. She has shown a tremendous amount of growth this season and continues to improve with each meet. Emma scored 60 points for the team at the last meet.”

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOY

Seventh-grader Sam Ketch of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by middle school coaches Tom Tilley and Anthony Cox. “We challenged Sam to ‘play big’ and lead with toughness and he clearly responded,” Cox said. “Sam led the team in scoring both games last week with double-figures and season-high totals of 10 and 17 points. He also drilled a game-tying three-pointer in regulation as time expired to send the game into overtime, eventually leading to a victory over Riverside Military Academy. The win avenged an earlier 39-12 loss to the same team.”

VARSITY GIRL

Junior Lillie Free of Clarkesville was named an Indian of the Week by varsity girls basketball coach Brandy Corbett. “Lillie had an outstanding week of play as our primary point guard,” Corbett said. “She did an excellent job of organizing our team into an offense, making good passes and choosing excellent shots. Lillie scored 18 points in our two games last week with several assists. We are very proud of Lillie for her execution on both offense and defense and her play was pivotal in our wins against George Walton Academy and Strong Rock Christian.”

VARSITY BOY

Junior Caden Griffis of Martin was selected as an Indian of the Week by swim coach Annette Cochran. “Caden set three personal records this past week,” Cochran said. “His records were in the 50-yard backstroke, 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard fly. Caden has been very close to qualifying for state this season and this week really set his mind to accomplish this. He finished a nail-biting 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.99 which was just enough for him to qualify.”
