Middle school volleyball opens season at Banks County jamboree

The Tallulah Falls School middle school volleyball teams opened the 2020 season on Saturday in a jamboree at Banks County. The teams took on the host school, Habersham, and Hart County.

"These were the first matches for the season for our middle school team and we played some pretty tough teams," says coach Whittney LaHayne. "This was a good learning experience for our girls and we were able to see some of our areas of weakness and where we needed to improve."

LaHayne has pointed out that the B-Team is very young, and consists of primarily sixth graders.

"Our A-Team is small in size and strength compared to last year's group of young ladies," adds LaHayne. "With that being said though, we will continue to grow and train. Just like last year, our season started off slow but by the end of the season, we had picked up strength and finished fourth in our area. We had some positives come out of yesterday. I want to highlight Gemma Farris and Chesney Tanksley on their powerful serves. This is always an area that is pivotal in this age group and can make or break a match. Karagan Branson had several serve receives that were good solid passes from some strong servers."

Both teams played Habersham, Hart and Banks, while the A-Team did pick up a win against Habersham's B-Team.
