TFS soccer teams set for playoffs in record-breaking 2021 season

The TFS Lady Indians and Indians soccer teams are set for the opening round of the Class 1A Private state playoffs. In what has been an unprecedented season for TFS, the teams have made a habit of breaking and setting school records.

LADY INDIANS

The Lady Indians will play host in the first round against Region 5A's #3 seed, Atlanta International at Amick Field on Tuesday, April 20 at 6 PM. The girls have been led by head coach Travis Mullis, and with each victory continue to set a new school record. So far, the team is 8-3-1 overall and finished as the Region 8A Private Runner-Up.

Senior Grace Kim and junior Honora Kahwach have been the primary goal-scorers with 10 and nine goals, respectively. The offense is truly a balanced effort, as the quartet of Iray Adeleke, Sydney Coffey, Addie Higbie and Kat Williams have four goals each on the season. Kim and Kahwach have a shot at the single-season mark set by Maria Whitson in 2017 (15 goals).

*Per GHSA rules, every spectator is required to purchase a $7 ticket. Tickets can be purchased through GoFan.co or pay at the tennis court gate.

INDIANS

The Indians also are writing history in their inaugural GHSA season at TFS. Under head coach Jeremy Stille, the 8-4 overall mark is only the fourth time in program history of hitting that win total, with the record of 11 being set in 2015 and 2009. This is the first time TFS will play in the postseason, and several seniors and younger players have all contributed in the success.

Senior Max Farris has been unbelievable, breaking the school single-season goals record of 23 by Kofi Amanhyia (23 in 2006), with 24 and counting. He also has 14 assists on the season, which is also a record. Farris has four hat tricks this year, including a pair of 5-goal games (school record) and a 5-assist game (school record). Fellow senior Sammy Davis has 16 goals himself, which ranks as the fourth-most in a single campaign. Davis has three hat tricks of his own, and seven assists on the season.

Senior keeper Cainan Yaskiewicz has been stellar as well, posting a pair of shutouts between the pipes, and even added a goal and an assist in the last week of the regular season.

The boys will travel on Wednesday, April 21 to take on Wesleyan at 6 PM.

*Tickets at Wesleyan are $7, cash only
