Avery Keim - Cross Country

At the end of a week-long freshman midmester trip to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Avery Keim managed to lead TFS to a runner-up finish at the Heroes Invite on a challenging TFS Farm course with a personal record time of 24:21.90. Avery made the best of the lack of cross country practice routine this week by being mentally prepared, both ahead of time as well as during the race. Strategic in pacing, resilient in fatigue, and disciplined in the positive self-talk mantras needed to run her best, Avery stuck to her plan to run her best, undaunted by the week's digressions. -coach Scott Neal

Jackson Shadburn - Cross Country

Senior Captain Jackson Shadburn spent his senior midmester week hiking around the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, trekking up to Scout Lookout and exploring The Narrows in Zion National Park, boat rafting the Colorado River around Horseshoe Bend, scrambling up and down the Coral Pink Sand Dunes under shooting stars, and running most of the 5.2-mile round trip down to Redwall Bridge of the Grand Canyon. With only three or so hours of sleep, Jackson ran the tough 5k hill TFS Farm course within a minute of his course best time. Jackson chose to remember his commitment to the team while still seizing each day of a special trip of impactful memories. -coach Scott Neal

ruby sue anderson - softball

Sixth-grader Ruby Sue Anderson is nominated for IOW from softball. Ruby Sue a new student has come in a made waves in the softball program. Her desire, dedication and determination for the game is a welcomed presence. Though the team never had a game she consistently leads the girls in offensive and defensive drills. I look forward to seeing her progress and seeing how far she can go. -coach Jo Kimbrel

sebastian york - cross country

Seventh-grader Sebastian York ran the best race of his two year cross country career on the grassy knolls and mountain course of the Tri State #3 meet, posting a 3k time of 13:18.
