MS basketball splits with Summit Charter

The MS basketball teams split at home Monday evening against Summit Charter. The Indians grabbed their conference opener, while the Lady Indians lost.

The boys earned a 36-14 win as Asa Popham led all players with 19 points. He drilled four 3-pointers. Brantley Addison chipped in with 10 points.

Meanwhile, the girls lost 31-12, but were down by a single point at the half. Turnovers in the second half were costly as well as second-chance opportunities for Summit Charter. Handley James' five points led the Lady Indians.

The Indians and Lady Indians are both 1-1 on the season, and the boys will return to action on Wednesday against Nantahala.
